I have been interested in photography since high school, and pursuing it seriously for several years now. When I had children of my own, I discovered how much I enjoy capturing their world: their expressions, their discoveries and their joy.

I prefer to photograph children with natural expressions (no "say cheese!") and doing what they do naturally. You can expect a session to last from 1-2 hours as needed to get to know and interact with your child(ren). I like to be able to take time for snack breaks or play breaks as needed. A relaxed child makes a much more willing subject. I find that if the parents are relaxed, the children generally will be too.

I shoot with natural light, so if we are shooting at your home I will move around to various rooms to find the best light. I may ask to move furniture if needed or move things around to create better lighting or atmosphere. I also have a portable backdrop I can set up in a well-lit area to do more traditional poses and portraits if you desire.

Weather permitting, I can also meet you at a location of your choice in the Seattle area.

I suggest you choose clothing that is classic in style for adults. Denim and khaki photograph well. Children look great in bold colors, though I suggest avoiding logos and characters if possible. For portraits with more than one person, it's best to coordinate. I find that newborns photograph best in their birthday suit. Hats are a great accessory for children's and newborn portraits. Feel free to have several changes of clothing picked out for variety, or you may choose from a few items I have one hand such as tutus and hats.
